SPECIAL OLYMPICS

Special Olympics are a big part of St Hilda’s School. We take part in

·             Athletics

·             Aquatics

·             Gymnastics

Since September nine of our pupils took part in an aquatic event in Sligo on December 5th . We were very proud of our swimmers as they took home between them 6 gold, 2 silver and 1 fourth place. In April three of our pupils will take part in the advanced swimming event in Galway.

On March the 20th 2013 it will be the turn of our gymnastic team. Nine pupils will take part in the following artistic events

·         Floor

·         Vault

·         Uneven Bars

·         Parallel Bars

·         Beam

·         Pommel Horse

·         High bar

This competition is a qualifying event  for the National Games which will be held  in 2014.

In May our Athletic team will take to the track.  The pupils who have qualified in the area games last year will take part in the Connaught games which will be held in Galway.

We in St. Hilda’s School are very proud of our pupil’s achievements. Since we started competing in Special Olympics our pupils have represented their school, province and country at all levels of competition and have come home with bronze, silver and gold medals. We look forward to another great year of competition.
