Congrats to Bluebell Class, who travelled up to the R.D.S in Dublin to represent St. Hilda’s at the E.S.B. Science Blast 2025.
Bluebell’s project question was ‘Can the size of the body of a guitar make the pitch of the notes higher or lower?’
This term the pupils investigated this by building their own biscuit box guitars and learned how bigger the guitar, the lower the note that is produced.
The pupils also learned how to string the guitars and discovered that the more you tightened the string, the higher the pitch of the note.
Lots of pupils from other schools visited the Bluebell Class and really enjoyed playing our guitars.
The judges were very impressed with all the work that Bluebell Class put into the project. They said that they really liked how the class showed their science, musical and art skills in the project.
We are all so proud of Daryn, Ellen, Eva, Isaque, Malli and Patrick for all their creativity and hard work. Well done also to all of the staff that supported the pupils throughout the project.
