Buttercups

We have had a wonderful and busy start to the winter term. The students have taken part in lots of exciting learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom.

In December we celebrated Elvis’s birthday who turned 16. We enjoyed music, treats and celebrating together as a class.

In Maths, we have been learning about money and how to use coins in exchange for items in our classroom shop. The students have enjoyed role-play shopping, counting coins, and learning about real-life spending.

We have been creative with our winter projects. We made a 3D snowman using papier-mâché and created winter lanterns using clay. The children were very proud of their artwork and enjoyed the hands-on experience. We have continued practising drawing, painting and other winter crafts throughout the term.

We also had great fun taking part in our school Christmas music video. Everyone loved choosing their favourite Christmas songs and playing musical instruments along to the music. It was a fantastic opportunity to express ourselves, work together and get into the festive spirit. We also had a fantastic visit from the Army Band, and we really enjoyed the lively performance. We have also been busy in the kitchen baking cookies and making breakfast together, which helped us practise teamwork and follow instructions step by step. As part of our learning about using Technology we explored the school on a technology hunt to spot different devices used every day. We have also been returning bottles as part of a recycling scheme and learning more about how to care for our environment. This term included a lovely trip to the Dean Crowe Theatre to watch a Christmas play. We continue to enjoy weekly swimming lessons and regular walks, which support our wellbeing and help us stay active. Before the term ends, we are looking forward to visiting the Christmas markets in town to see the lights and decorations, and we are very excited for our annual school Christmas dinner — a tradition everyone looks forward to!

Throughout all these activities, the students have worked very hard, especially in writing, where we have seen fantastic progress in confidence, creativity and neatness.
