St Hilda's Special School Athlone

Hello and welcome back to the Daisy Class. Here comes Summer. We have had a very full term since Easter. We have been busy making lots of art this term. We made shark art with newspaper, a fish tank with buttons, and a beautiful Under the Sea window display. We also made egg cup flowers to go with our plants. We all had fun listening to and playing music in class. Some of us like to have a dance every now and again.

We enjoyed planting some seeds and watering them each week. It was fun to see salad grow in our class and bring them home to enjoy tasting them. We also worked on preparing our own snack in school.

We have been working very hard learning about our numbers and colours. We listened to songs about the colours Green and Orange. This month we are dancing to songs about rainbows. We are also working on plenty of matching exercises.

In Language and Communication, we are busy working on our Lámh signs and our PECS. We practise our writing skills and letter recognition every day.

We had a lovely class tour to Dún na Sí in Moate where we got to visit some old farm buildings and see the old machinery. We walked around and saw some farm animals in the petting zoo. It was nice to travel on a bus again. We got to eat our lunch in the park after and played for a while on the swings and zipline.

We had a wonderful outdoor graduation for one of our classmates, Yvonne. Yvonne has been a very cherished student down through the years and whilst we are sad to see her leave us, we really wish her and her family every good wish for the future.

We’ve had a busy year in the Daisy Class and we hope the weather is nice for the Holidays.

Have a lovely Summer,

The Daisy Class
